Gerald Sánchez, who is an AVAA scholarship holder and a sociology student at the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB), was granted a scholarship from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente A.C. or ITESO (Western Institute of Technology and Higher Education), a Jesuit university of Guadalajara, Mexico, to study the subject Gender and Public Policies online during the first term of 2021.
This scholarship, which consists of taking an elective subject, is a recognition granted by ITESO in partnership with UCAB since 2020 to students who are between the 5th and 8th semester of their degree and who have had an excellent academic performance.
The subject of Gender and Public Policies has as its axis “developing capacities to analyze and diagnose problems of gender inequality, design innovative solutions, propose clear objectives and indicators, and evaluate public policies with a gender perspective” (ITESO).
Gerald, in addition to studying at UCAB, also studies Political and Administrative Studies at the UCV, as well as music at the Simón Bolívar Music Conservatory. He was part of the organizing team of the AVAA institutional volunteering project, Orientation To Achievement 2020, and he is currently one of the candidates for the AVAA 2021 Scholarship Holders Committee.surp
“I can only thank these great institutions that every day teach me that our dreams can come true in the least expected way,” Gerald wrote on his social media accounts after being surprised with the recognition.
To AVAA, it is always a source of pride to know the successful stories of any of the scholarship holders who are part of the Excellence Program; therefore, we want to share this great news with all of you.
